You may wonder what we teach our orphans about God… basically, we tell them that…
God knows each one of them…
Psalm 193:13-14 “You formed the way I think and feel. You put me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because you made me in such a wonderful way. I know how amazing that was!”
Ephesians 1:4 “In Christ, he chose us before the world was made. He chose us in love to be his holy people—people who could stand before him without any fault.”
God loves them…
Romans 5:8 “But Christ died for us while we were still sinners, and by this God showed how much he loves us.” 1 John 4:9-11 “This is how God showed his love to us: He sent his only Son into the world to give us life through him. True love is God’s love for us, not our love for God. He sent his Son as the way to take away our sins. That is how much God loved us, dear friends! So we also must love each other.
Jesus came to earth as a baby and grew up
Luke 2:40 “The little boy Jesus was developing into a mature young man, full of wisdom. God was blessing him.”
People were mean to Jesus and said bad things about him
Psalm 22:6-8 “But I feel like a worm, less than human! People insult me and look down on me. Everyone who sees me makes fun of me. They shake their heads and stick out their tongues at me. They say, “Call to the Lord for help. Maybe he will save you. If he likes you so much, surely he will rescue you!””
Jesus loves children and He asked children to come to Him and sit on His lap
Matthew 19:13-15 “Then the people brought their little children to Jesus so that he could lay his hands on them to bless them and pray for them. When the followers saw this, they told the people to stop bringing their children to him. But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me. Don’t stop them, because God’s kingdom belongs to people who are like these children.” After Jesus blessed the children, he left there.”
Jesus wants adults to be trusting and humble like children
Matthew 18:2-4“Jesus called a little child to come to him. He stood the child in front of the followers. Then he said, “The truth is, you must change your thinking and become like little children. If you don’t do this, you will never enter God’s kingdom. The greatest person in God’s kingdom is the one who makes himself humble like this child.”
Jesus defends little children…
Matthew 18:6“If one of these little children believes in me, and someone causes that child to sin, it will be very bad for that person. It would be better for them to have a millstone tied around their neck and be drowned in the deep sea.”
Faith in Jesus gives His children power
Matthew 17:20 “I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. “
Jesus wants children to obey and be respectful
Ephesians 6:1-3 “Children, obey your parents the way the Lord wants, because this is the right thing to do. The command says, “You must respect your father and mother.” This is the first command that has a promise with it. And this is the promise: “Then all will go well with you, and you will have a long life on the earth.””
3 John 1:4 “It always gives me the greatest joy when I hear that my children are following the way of truth.”
When Jesus’ children do mess up…if they are sorry and tell Him about it, He forgives them
1 John 1:9 “But if we confess our sins, God will forgive us. We can trust God to do this. He always does what is right. He will make us clean from all the wrong things we have done.”
Jesus wants His children to forgive people who treat them badly
Matthew 6:14 “Yes, if you forgive others for the wrongs they do to you, then your Father in heaven will also forgive your wrongs.
Jesus died so that His children can live forever
John 3:16 “Yes, God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him would not be lost but have eternal life.:
EVERYONE needs to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior
Romans 10:9 “If you openly say, “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised him from death, you will be saved.”
We will live in heaven with Jesus one day
John 14:1-3 “Jesus said, “Don’t be troubled. Trust in God, and trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father’s house. I would not tell you this if it were not true. I am going there to prepare a place for you. After I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back. Then I will take you with me, so that you can be where I am.”
God’s angels protect his children
Matthew 18:10 “Be careful. Don’t think these little children are not important. I tell you that these children have angels in heaven. And those angels are always with my Father in heaven.
Jesus is always with them… even when we are sad or lonely… forever and ever
Matthew 28:20 “Teach them to obey everything that I have told you to do. You can be sure that I will be with you always. I will continue with you until the end of time.”
ANYONE who believes in Jesus… IS A CHILD of God
John 1:11-14 “He [Jesus] came to the world that was his own. And his own people did not accept him. But some people did accept him. They believed in him, and he gave them the right to become children of God. They became God’s children, but not in the way babies are usually born. It was not because of any human desire or plan. They were born from God himself. The Word became a man and lived among us. We saw his divine greatness—the greatness that belongs to the only Son of the Father. The Word was full of grace and truth.”
